Israel In The Wilderness

Paul writing to the church at Corinth said,
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

1 Corinthians 10:1

Paul did not want the Corinthians to be ignorant of Israel's wandering in the wilderness, why? what was so important about this time that the apostle Paul takes the time to remind them of this historical event?

I am currently teaching verse-by-verse through 1 Corinthians and we have come to chapter 10.
