Dr.Ergun Caner
I have been investigating a claim that is swirling around the internet and I need some help. If you are interested let me know your thoughts on the following:
Ergun Mehmet Caner (B.A., M.A., M.Div., Th.M., Th.D.) is president of the Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate School at the Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
He claims to have been a devout Muslim who converted to Christianity. He has written books on Islam that are used in some seminaries. The claim is being made now that he is a fraud and a liar.

Hello! I think you should be very careful before putting out what is in effect Muslim propaganda. This videos are not just done of Ergun Caner but of others too who have been Muslims and converted to Christianity. This is done in order to discredit those saved by the Gospel. I have viewed quite a number of them. Although I don't agree with this man's arminianism I believe he is the Lord's and was converted from a Muslim background.
Please provide any documentation you have that would demonstrate the material presented in the videos are false
I've watched a bit of the videos. On the one hand, things may be taken out of context and honest misstatements may be made. I've said things before, thinking I said something completely different. So, for example, when Ergun says he was born in Instanbul, rather than Stockholm, it may be an honest mistake (his father may have been born there or some such). It certainly raises a flag, but it does not necessarily make him a liar on that point. In the videos it points out the "contradiction" about his father building a mosque in Ohio, a building which was erected in 1903. It could be his father did construction work, reconstructing the inside of the building to turn it into a mosque. So, I don't think that point necessarily makes him a liar, either. Again, context is key.
In regard to statements he made regarding Islam and Muslim personages, he seems to have stated things which are erroneous. This should raise large red flags, screaming, "Caution!"
Self-styled the "intellectual pit bull of evangelicalism," Caner says he will debate anyone, anywhere, anytime - and usually does so on college campuses. I suggest the pastor of Victory Baptist Church and I offer to debate him and his brother on the topic of "Calvinism" in Abilene - home of three college campuses (Hardin-Simmons Univ., Abilene Christian Univ., McMurry Univ.).
Since there are no recorded debates of his anywhere, either in print or on video, I suggest we work to have this one recorded - thereby enhancing his credibility.
