How Should We View Trials?

I received an e-mail that contained the following:

"I would appreciate if you could put me on your prayer list. I just went to a specialist today concerning some grape like cysts on my ovaries, and found out that I may have ovarian cancer. I will be having a hysterectomy very soon and if it is cancer, they will have to biopsy all my organs. Please pray for strength to endure whatever the Lord requires of me."

When I hear of people facing very difficult situations I don't want to offer worthless clichés but point them to the in-depth study of God's Word.
