Sola Conferences!
Why go to a conference where people rant and rave about how mean and evil we Calvinists are...why not go to one where you can actually talk to us...and where I'm 100% positive that Scripture will be opened up and theology will be talked about?
Here is a conference you can go to! It's called the Sola Conference, and this particular meeting outside of Dallas/Ft Worth will be on the topic of Sola Fide (by faith alone). You can find all the info at the website of Countryside Bible Church in Southlake, TX: http://solaconference.countrysidebible.org/
Here is what the conference is about:
The greatest minds in church history have identified this one biblical truth as the foundation of our faith. John Calvin declared it to be "the main hinge" on which the true Christianity swings. They are describing the doctrine of justification by faith alone—or as the reformers called it, Sola Fide.
Of the importance of this foundational truth Martin Luther wrote: "This doctrine is the head and the cornerstone. It alone begets, nourishes, builds, preserves, and defends the church of God; and without it the church of God cannot last for one hour." It’s no wonder that Luther called justification by faith alone "the article by which the church stands or falls." Because there are only two kinds of righteousness: a human righteousness based on human effort, and what he called "the passive righteousness" that comes from Christ. There is the righteousness of God and your own righteousness. There is no middle ground; you embrace one or the other.
Come and join us as we celebrate the heart of the gospel, and as we seek to deepen our understanding of the foundation on which our faith is built.
The two speakers will be Dr James White, an elder of Phoenix Reformed Baptist Churhc, Director of Alpha and Omega Ministries (http://www.aomin.org/), and an accomplished apologist and debater...and Dr Steven Lawson, (http://www.cfbcmobile.org/) senior pastor of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church and president of New Reformation (a ministry about the biblical reformation of today's church).
I'm planning to be there...why don't you plan to as well? It's going to be held Fri-Sun, Feb 6-8, 2009.
