Saturday Morning

Good morning everyone,

The Scripture Readings for today are:

Isaiah 58:9-14
Psalm 86:1-6
Luke 5:27-32

The Gospel reading is very simple and we may be tempted to simply look right past it . I would like to point everyone to verse 27-28
27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. 28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

Notice two important elements in verse 28

Left all
Followed him

This is the Christian life reduced to it's simplest terms. We leave everything and simply follow Christ.

The problem is we don;t want to leave anything behind and we have a hard time following Christ when he leads us where we don't want to go. His path leads us to repentance, sacrifice, loving our enemies, and a life of holiness!

What have you not left behind?

Ar you following Christ or yourself?

The Old Testament readings for the last two day's have been from Isaiah 58. There is much there to discuss and talk about. Verse 9 in today's reading talks about:

The Yoke
The putting forth of the finger
Speaking Vanity

See if you can figure out what these things are referring to and post what you find.

Have a great Saturday and don't forget to use some time today to prepare for the Lord's Day tomorrow.
