Jesus Wept

John 11:35
"Jesus Wept"

This is the shortest verse in the bible yet it offers a powerful picture. Jesus the Son of God, God in the flesh and he weeps!

A lutheran pastor sent me the following:

One of the brothers in our circuit always said he would use this text at the next installation or ordination in our area; we all thought he was kidding. At the next installation, as he laid his hands on his brother pastor, he said, "Jesus wept. To be a true shepherd of the flock that Jesus has entrusted to you, be a man of compassion. Weep with joy when your people celebrate. Weep with sorrow when your people hurt. Weep with Jesus when people reject the Gospel. Weep with and for the people, because, Jesus wept." I have not heard those two simple words the same since that day.

That is a great reminder for all of us who are in the ministry today and for those who desire to be in the ministry in the future. I think it should also serve as a reminder to church members as well.

Weep with joy when your pastor celebrates
Weep with sorrow when he hurts.
Weep with sympathy when he is discouraged
Weep with compassion when he has to do the difficult things ministry often requires.

Something fo all of us to think about today.

I wish I could weep sometimes. I'm too much of a man.
