John Owen And The Mortification of Sin

If you have been a Christian for any time and have attended a decent church then you have of course heard of John Owen. He wrote a number of classics:

The Death of Death in the Death of Christ

The Mortification of Sin


I could list a few more but those two books are very well known and should be read by all Christians.



This evening I came across an interesting Rap CD.

The title and cover caught my attention so I decided to do a little research. Here is what I found:
"Be killing sin or sin will be killing you." Based off of John Owen's classic exposition and Romans 8:13, this sophomore offering from Lamp Mode artist, timothy brindle, is a call to believers to mortify, or put to death, indwelling sin. 16 tracks of exhortation, encouragement, and edification.

Wow, a rap album based on the writings of John Owen and on Romans 8:13!

I purchased the CD and will be working my way through all 16 tracks. I will post my thoughts on the CD later.
